A large portion of our annual funding will not be received next year.  We would still like to support our 60-80 students in the available national rocketry competitions as we have done in years past.  Companies can donate to have their logo on our rocket, on this website on our Sponsors page and on our other social media feeds.  Any donation over $100 will officially be recognized by the school board for tax purposes, however we welcome any amount large or small.   If you would like to support the team, you may send a check payable to SGASD to:

Spring Grove Area Middle School Team places 52nd out of 1001 teams in the American Rocketry Challenge for 2025!

Under very challenging wind conditions at the National Finals, the team launched their rocket to a height of 764ft and back down in 47s.  The goal was 815ft in 43-45s.  This flight gave them a score of 63 in the first round and unfortunately, they did not advance to the second round.  It still was a successful year as they were the only team from Pennsylvania to advance to the National Finals and they placed in the top 5%.

TARC 2026 rules:
750ft
36-39s
one egg in any orientation
both halves of the rocket connected together on descent
both halves of the rocket are the same diameter

The Spring Grove Rocketry team, which had 60 students from grades 6-12 this year, was fortunate to have several sponsors.  We greatly appreciate all of the support we have received from companies, individuals and fundraisers.  We could not compete in the National competitions with out your support.  At this time we would like to thank Conewago Enterprises, Krislee Electric, TE Connectivity, Total Identity Solutions, and Software Design Solutions (SDS).  If you would like to make an individual contribution or a donation/sponsorship from a company, please reach out to Brian Hastings at [email protected] or you can send a donation through Paypal at https://www.sgasd.org/departments/business-office/paying-advertising-invoices-through-paypal Please include Rocketry as the invoice number.  Thank you!

The Spring Grove Middle School team above placed first overall in the Target Altitude competition at the Battle of the Rockets recently.  The team had impressive flights of 1086ft and 1095ft when shooting for exactly 1100ft with a rocket that had to be wider than it was tall on an F class motor.  The team finished ahead of event the university teams such as Virginia Tech as there are no separate divisions!

The Spring Grove Area Middle School team above placed second overall in the Deployable Payload event at the Battle of the Rockets.  The team had to build a rocket that would drop an electronics payload that would provide live telemetry data back to a base station in flight and on the  way back down to the ground.  The team placed ahead of several university teams that also competed.  Congratulations Rockets!
