Video Conference with NASA and Fundraisers!

Last week was exciting for the entire SLI group. We attended our first video conference with NASA, discussing various topics about the project and clarifying questions. In addition, we were visited by the York Dispatch and featured in one of their articles! If you haven't seen the pictures or the article that was written, make sure to check it out!

In other news, we currently have 3 ongoing fundraisers for SLI. We will be selling cotton candy at all home football games, as well as Yankee Candles and 2016 Bonus Books. The fundraiser for Yankee Candles is perfect for holiday decoration and gifts, featuring the new fall and holiday collection! Bonus Books are good for the remainder of this year as well as all of 2016, so please consider purchasing a book from us. We need to make our fundraising goal of $25,000 in order to fund our program, so any type of monetary donation is accepted (any donation over $100 is considered tax deductible)! Advertising space can also be purchased for $5 per square inch, see the post about this for more information.

Two Spring Grove Teams Selected to Participate in the NASA Student Launch Initiative 2016

12 different high schools from 9 states have submitted proposals and 14 high school teams will participate in SLI 2016. The full list of teams can be found on NASA's website here: NASA's SLI Website

16 Students have taken on the challenge this year to form two teams to participate in the Student Launch Initiative 2016. There will be a physics payload and a biology payload. Only one other school in the country will be entering two teams. We will also be upgrading the website to have additional capabilities. A new twitter account has just been started as well, please follow @sg_nasa_sl. This is an exciting time for the teams and the school. We will be starting with two different fundraisers, Bonus Books and Yankee Candles. The Yankee Candles fundraiser is great because it is their new fall and holiday collection, perfect for holiday decorations or gifts. Just go to yankeecandlefundraising.com and enter our group number 990078594 on the right to start ordering. All profits will be sent to us monthly. We really welcome your support because our preliminary budget for this year is $25,625. We will also once again ask for corporate sponsors. Do you want your logo on the rocket or on this website?
